Maryanne Royle

Maryanne Royle is an artist from Rochdale interested in perception and the body as a landscape. She works across disciplines often with collaboration at the heart of her process. Her sound work was described by The Quietus as a “hauntology-laced dispatch of prime strangeness” part of what they refer to as “New Weird Britain”.

Working site specifically and with time-based media, Maryanne creates immersive and poetic experiences relevant to the heritage and character of places.

A graduate of Intermedia from Edinburgh College of Art and still in the early stages of her career, Maryanne has already established a professional profile in the North-West of England. She has influenced a growing culture of cross-disciplinary and multi-modal media rich investigations that include creative collaborations and interactive experiences.

Previous project partners include Manchester International Festival, Leeds 2023, Arts Council England, Festival Météo and West of England Visual Arts Alliance.

She is Programme Manager of Ebor Studio and Gallery FRANK.
