Lee Freeman
After studying Design at University I went into education and I am currently head of a creative faculty. I joined Ebor Studio recently in order to pursue more artistic endeavours and develop my own practice.
My work focuses on portraiture and seeks to make connections between the past and present. My most recent works are concerned with establishing a connection between the imposing majesty of Greek sculpture and the humble reality of modern man, both visually and metaphorically.
The body of work is comprised of drawings, paintings and digital art, the subject often depicted using pencil, charcoal and acrylic paint. The reference to Greek gods, wealth and high-status is made through the addition of plinths, symbology, and gold leaf.
The work is intended to highlight the stark and subtle contrasts between the two time periods, to examine the hierarchies of the past whilst questioning those in place today.
