Mary Naylor

Mary Naylor is a self-taught painter. She studied graphic design at LJMU and works in a variety of mediums and subjects. These include portraiture, digital, screenprint, animation, design, murals, and textile art. She has been exhibiting consistently around the North West of England for well over a decade and is swiftly spreading her work across the world; some previous shows include 2012, Antwerp Mansion (UK) 2013, WHP, (UK) 2014, ParkLife (UK) 2014, Beacons Festival (UK)  2016, Salford Museum and Art Gallery (UK), 2021 OklahomaMCR (UK) , 2022 Gallery Frank (UK), 2023 The Last Frontier (USA) . Her work can be viewed in permanent collections at  The Jane Eyre (UK)  Henry C (UK) , Gimbals (UK) , Ply (UK) MothershipNYC (USA).

Her artistic practice was accidentally allocated a bigger space along with more importance during the pandemic in 2020. What had been considered an unstable and therefore unsafe income, shifted dramatically into an enjoyable lifeline. A career built on independence, control and freedom to move. Mary has been greatly influenced by painters she worked alongside during trips through South and Central America. Watching their community interactions and witnessing the benefits for all involved, contributed to the desire to work with her own back home. So after completing a three month residency in Brooklyn (USA) with MothershipNYC , Mary returned to England to be with her family and begin exciting new projects within her immediate communities. Hosting workshops and interactive exhibits she hopes to share the confidence and possibilities born from spending time in the arts.

An associate member of Ebor Studios  she is now living and working between Greater Manchester and North Yorkshire, gulping down as much nature and fresh sea air as possible in between.
