Jack-Victor W. Westerdale
Jack-Victor has a somewhat varied background in training; both contemporary and traditional finishing and woodworking, designing and making, preparing and finishing and the basics of being a sole-trader. With a problem-solving mindset, he approaches every project in the workshop around what can be achieved. This almost natural restriction in standard practice makes for all the more ingenuity within his production.
He can’t design with a blind eye to how his ideas can be realised, his work shows a relationship between design being inherent to making. The blessing of this is concise manufacture methods considered as another arrow to his sustainability quiver whereby the making is as low an impact as can be achieved. This also runs parallel with his ethical materiality beliefs of almost wholly UK timber.
