Ivon Haywood
Ivon Haywood, together with Jack-Victor Westerdale have been working from Ebor’s basement workshop. In this space,
Ivon refines his practice as a furniture maker. Working to use the medium of wood, and sometimes metals or bamboo to develop his skills. A development of traditional methods acquired from Rycotewood school of furniture allow him use furniture making to explore a philosophy of responsible design which is ever evolving as is his exploration of aesthetics through his trade.
Ethically sourced materials found local within 30 miles of Manchester give way to new forms within furniture, Ivon aims to express his values of creativity, ergonomics, and global change. His appreciation for timber comes from am understanding of tradition in his craft and a respect for these infinite yet ancient things we call trees.
Ivon wants to share his work through means of exhibition, to give a narrative to his philosophy as a designer, conceptualise and maker.
